Two dramaturgical lines of Czech play on the small stage of the theater "Divadlo na Vinohradech"
Tomanová, Kateřina ; Smrčka, Jiří (advisor) ; Kubíček, Tomáš (referee)
This thesis deals with two dramaturgical lines of Czech play on the small stage of the theater "Divadlo na Vinohradech". It aims to verify whether or not and, if so, how has the text of contemporary drama changed in comparison to the dramatic text of the period from the 1960s to the 1980s. The thesis does so on a sample of eleven plays put on under the current artistic management of the theatre (i.e. since the theatre season 2012/2013). The first part of the thesis focuses on the theoretical characterization of dramas typical for both of these observed periods and on the development of dramaturgy of the theater in relation to Czech drama. The second part of the thesis contains the analyses and the final comparison of dramatic texts. The dramas analysed in this thesis are Motýl na anténě (1963) by Václav Havel, Piknik (1964) by Ladislav Smoček, Kočka na kolejích (1965) by Josef Topol, Hodinový hoteliér (1969) by Pavel Landovský, Audience (1975) by Václav Havel, Pěnkava s Loutnou (1978) by Antonín Přidal, Zvěstování aneb Bedřichu, jsi anděl (1986) by Milan Uhde, Nikdy (2003) by Lenka Lagronová, Ulity (2011) by Magdalena Frydrych Gregorová, Na kamenném, kamenném poli (Job) (2011) by Tereza Verecká, and Za dveřmi (2017) by Barbora Hančilová. The Alfred Jarry Pantomime
Plicková, Karolina ; Christov, Petr (advisor) ; Pšenička, Martin (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to employ a theatrological approach to the work of one of the most original and influential Czech pantomime troupes of all time, entitled Pantomima Alfreda Jarryho (the Alfred Jarry Pantomime, AJP). The company was established in 1966 in Prague by two young mime artists Boris Hybner and Ctibor Turba and existed as late as the political liquidation of the troupe in 1972 that came due to the process of the so-called normalization period in the former Czechoslovakia. The thesis consists of four major parts that are divided into several subsections. The first part deals with the historical contexts of the art of mime, both international and domestic. The AJP troupe represents the second generation of Czech pantomime that refused the style of the so-called modern pantomime expressed in the international context by Marcel Marceau and in the Czech context by Ladislav Fialka at the Theatre Na zábradlí (Theatre on the Balustrade). Since there is no monograph strictly based on this theatre, although it played a major role among the newly established small theatres in the sixties (and had an important influence on the poetics of the AJP troupe), we briefly introduce the poetics of both the pantomime company led by Fialka and the drama company led by the director Jan Grossman,...
Tom Stoppard - an inventory of his postmodern and near-postmodern literary devices
Braňka, Štěpán ; Ženíšek, Jakub (advisor) ; Topolovská, Tereza (referee)
This Master's thesis is dedicated to the analysis of Tom Stoppard's plays. It analyses their main themes, protagonists and modern and postmodern literary devices that Stoppard used when creating his plays. The theoretical part briefly introduces postmodernism and some of its major characteristics. It further focuses on the theatre of the absurd. In the practical part, Tom Stoppard's plays are then analysed from different angles. The major areas constitute mainly Stoppard's modern and postmodern literary devices, the themes of his plays and their division. The part of this thesis dedicated to themes also discusses the characters of the plays. Key Words: Stoppard, postmodernism, theatre of the absurd, plays

Horáková, Kristýna ; Holý, Jiří (advisor) ; Bílek, Petr (referee)

The author's work is viewed purely from a literary point of view, author's dramatical adaptation, his political nor personal texts aren't taken into account. The aim of the thesis is to find elements of individual relationships, describe and outline the author's procedures in the constitution of the characters and their interactions.
